MVP development cost in India starts from ₹14,999 for a simple Android + iOS app built from one code base and from ₹9,999 for a basic web application. A fuller MVP with user accounts, payments and an admin panel usually falls in the ₹2.5–10 lakh range for a complete app system. Other Indian cost guides quote ₹2–25 lakh for apps, which is a wide range because the scope behind each number differs.

This post is for founders who have an idea and want to know what the first version should cost. By the end you will know what drives the price, what to leave out of version one, and how to get a fixed number before you spend anything.

What is an MVP and how is it different from a full app?

An MVP, or minimum viable product, is the smallest version of your product that real users can use and that tells you whether the idea works. It is a small, working app that does one job properly.

A full app has every feature you can imagine: referrals, loyalty points, five payment options, chat, analytics, multiple languages. An MVP has the one flow that matters most. For a tutor platform it is “tutor lists a profile, student finds and contacts the tutor” Everything else waits until users ask for it.

This matters for cost because every feature adds design, development, testing and maintenance. Cutting features lowers the price directly, and it gets you to real feedback sooner.

How much does MVP development cost in India?

Here are the numbers we can stand behind. These are starting points for scope, not final quotes.

MVP type

What it usually includes

Price

Business website or landing page

A few pages, enquiry form, WhatsApp button

from ₹4,999

Basic web application

Login, one core workflow, simple dashboard

from ₹9,999

Mobile app (Android + iOS)

One codebase, login, a few core screens, basic backend

from ₹14,999

Complete app system

Mobile app, web admin panel, backend, payments, notifications

₹2.5–10 lakh

The “from” prices cover a clearly bounded scope. Once you add payments, bookings, uploads or an admin panel, you move towards the complete app system range. We will not give you a number without hearing your idea, because the same app name can mean very different amounts of work.

Our app development cost guide for India breaks down what moves the price in more detail.

What decides the cost of an MVP?

Six things move the price more than anything else. Check each one against your idea before you ask anyone for a quote.

  • Number of user types. A marketplace has at least two (buyers and sellers) and often three with an admin. Each type needs its own screens.

  • Platforms. One codebase for Android and iOS costs far less than two separate native apps. Flutter app development is one way to get both from one team.

  • Payments. UPI and card payments through a gateway add integration, testing and GST-ready invoicing.

  • Admin panel. Someone has to approve users, see bookings and fix mistakes. Without a panel you end up editing the database by hand.

  • Integrations. WhatsApp messages, maps, SMS OTP and email each add work and, often, a monthly fee from the provider.

  • Design effort. A clean standard design is fast. Custom animation and branded illustrations take weeks.

Which features should I leave out of version one?

Leave out anything that does not help you learn whether people want the product. Founders usually want to add these early, and they can almost always wait:

  • Referral and loyalty programmes

  • Multiple languages (start with the one your first users speak)

  • In-app chat when WhatsApp or a phone call will do

  • Detailed analytics dashboards

  • Social login with five providers (one or two is enough)

  • Ratings and reviews, until you have enough users to rate

A useful test is to ask what happens if the feature is missing on day one. If users can still finish the main task, it can wait for version two.

Do I need a mobile app, or will a web app do?

Often a web app is enough for the first version. It works on every phone through the browser, needs no Play Store or App Store approval, and costs less. You can add an app later once people use it.

Choose a mobile app first when you need push notifications, the camera, offline use or a place on the user’s home screen. If your users are mostly on mid-range Android phones with patchy networks, a light app that handles weak signal is worth the extra cost.

If you are unsure, tell us the idea and we will say plainly which one you need. Sometimes the honest answer is “start with a website and a WhatsApp number”. Our website development team builds both web apps and sites.

What does an MVP look like in practice?

One of our clients in education had an idea for a tutor marketplace. We turned it into a platform where tutors list profiles and students find and contact them.

That is the pattern we recommend. Build the core flow, put it in front of users, and let their behaviour decide what to build next. For a booking or marketplace idea, the core flow is nearly always the same: someone lists, someone searches, someone makes contact or pays.

What costs come after launch?

The build price is not the full cost. Plan for these as well:

Item

Cost

Notes

Google Play developer account

US$25, one time

Needed to publish an Android app

Apple Developer account

US$99 per year

Needed to publish an iOS app

Hosting and cloud

monthly range

Depends on users and data

SMS OTP and WhatsApp messages

Per message, set by the provider

Rises with usage

Fixes and updates

support plan price

Phones and OS versions keep changing

You should own the store accounts, the domain and the code from the first day. At Ureka Technologies the client owns all of these, so you can change developers later without losing anything.

How do I get a fixed price for my MVP?

Write down four things before you contact any developer: who the users are, the one task they must be able to finish, the devices they use, and any system it must connect to, such as Razorpay or WhatsApp.

Then ask for a fixed written quote, not an hourly estimate. At Ureka we start with one call, send a fixed written quote, and the price moves only if the scope does. You get an installable build or working link every two weeks, and one person on WhatsApp who knows your project.

If you want a team to build the app itself, see our mobile app development service.

How do freelancers, agencies and in-house teams compare for an MVP?

A freelancer can be the cheapest for a small, clear scope, but you depend on one person’s availability. An agency costs more per hour and gives you design, development, testing and a replacement if someone leaves. An in-house developer makes sense once the product is proven and you have months of work ahead.

For a first MVP, most founders do best with a small team on a fixed price, since a missed deadline hurts a young company more than a slightly higher quote. If you only need extra hands on your own team, our hire developers option fits better.

FAQ and FAQ schema

How much does MVP development cost in India?

At Ureka Technologies a web application starts from ₹9,999 and an Android + iOS app from one codebase starts from ₹14,999. A complete app system with payments and an admin panel runs ₹2.5–10 lakh. Other Indian cost guides quote ₹2–25 lakh. The final price depends on scope.

Can I build an MVP for under ₹1 lakh?

A narrow MVP, such as one web workflow or a simple mobile app, can cost well under ₹1 lakh because our starting prices are ₹9,999 for web and ₹14,999 for mobile. Once you add payments, an admin panel and several user types, expect the complete app system range from ₹2.5 lakh.

What features should an MVP include?

Include only the one flow that proves your idea works, plus login and a basic admin view. For a marketplace that is: someone lists, someone searches, someone makes contact or pays. Leave out referrals, loyalty points, extra languages, chat and detailed analytics until real users ask for them.

Should my MVP be a web app or a mobile app?

A web app is often enough for version one. It works on every phone, needs no store approval and costs less. Choose a mobile app first if you need push notifications, camera access or offline use. If you are unsure, describe your idea and we will say which one fits.

Who owns the code after an MVP is built?

You should. At Ureka Technologies the client owns the code, domain, store accounts, data and models from day one. Ask any developer to confirm this in writing before you start, since it decides whether you can change developers later without losing anything you paid for.

What costs come after the MVP launches?

Plan for the Google Play account (US$25, one time), the Apple Developer account (US$99 per year), hosting, SMS and WhatsApp message charges, and fixes for new phone and OS versions. Hosting and support prices depend on your usage and the plan you choose, so ask for them in the quote.
