Website Development Cost in India (2026)
Updated 2026-09-23
A basic business website in India costs from ₹4,999. A basic web application — logins, a database and an admin panel — starts at ₹9,999. Full business platforms such as booking systems, ERPs or customer portals usually cost ₹2–15 lakh. The price depends on what the site has to do, not on how many pages it has.
Website cost at a glance
| What you need | Typical cost | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic business website | From ₹4,999 | A mobile-friendly site with contact form, WhatsApp button and Google setup |
| Basic web application | From ₹9,999 | Logins, a database, an admin panel and one core workflow |
| E-commerce store | Quoted after one call | Shopify, WooCommerce or custom — depends on catalogue size, payments and delivery |

| Full business platform | ₹2–15 lakh | ERPs, marketplaces and industry systems replacing spreadsheets and paper |
Starting prices are for a basic version. Every project gets a fixed written quote after one call.
What actually drives the cost of a website
Page count matters far less than people expect. A ten-page brochure site and a three-page site cost almost the same to build. What moves the price is what the site has to do.
Logins and user accounts, online payments, bookings with availability, an admin dashboard, integrations with WhatsApp, Tally or a courier — each of these is real engineering, and each adds to the cost.
Design is the other lever. A clean, fast design built from proven patterns costs far less than a fully custom visual identity with animations on every screen.
Freelancer, agency or template — what you get for the money
A template or DIY builder is the cheapest way to get online, and fine for a simple presence. It becomes expensive when the business needs the site to take bookings or payments and the template cannot.
A freelancer can be good value for a small, well-defined site. The risk is continuity: if they get busy or disappear, the project stops and the logins go with them.
A development team costs more than a template but gives you a written scope, a fixed price, and someone still around after launch. We price our basic websites close to freelancer rates for exactly this reason.
Costs people forget to budget for
Domain and hosting are ongoing, usually small, yearly costs. They should be registered in your name, not the developer's.
Maintenance — updates, backups, security fixes and small changes — is a monthly or yearly cost once the site is live. A business-critical site without maintenance is a risk.
Content: photos, product descriptions and copy. If nobody on your team has time to write them, budget for it.
How to get an accurate quote
Write down what the site must do, not what it must look like: who uses it, what they do on it, and what should happen after they do it. Three or four lines is enough to start.
Ask for the quote in writing with the scope attached. If a price has no scope next to it, it will change.
Want an exact number?
Send a few lines about what you need. You get a fixed written quote, usually within 48 hours.
